Helicopter Flight Training

Helicopter Training

Primary Helicopter Training

Our Robinson R22 helicopter is an excellent aircraft for flight training - it is a very durable training aircraft. Robinson's design makes for a great learning platform with a terrific saftey record - it has exceptional safety margins, large power reserves and responsive handling characteristics.

Most pilots train in the Robinson R22 - it is the least expensive machine to buy and maintain, and therefore training rates are cheaper than other types. The development of the R22 has allowed many perspective pilots to learn to fly who would otherwise have been unable to afford it.

The R22's spacious cockpit and precise control, along with excellent auto rotation characteristics, make this a great training aircraft. You will get personalized flight instruction from one of our FAA Certified Flight Instructors (CFI). You will learn at your own pace and can earn your Private Pilot (helicopter) certification in as little as 40 hours.*

*The average flight time for a student pilot to earn a private certificate is approximately 60 hours.

Advanced Helicopter Training

The Robinson R44 is a four seat helicopter similiar to the R22, but much larger - therefore handling and auto-rotations are easier to mangage. The newest version has a fuel injected engine, so the problem of ‘carb’ icing is eliminated. Overall, the R44 is a comfortable, fast and easy-to-fly helicopter. It is an excellent aircraft for advanced training and other uses, once someone has earned their Private Helicopter License. Most students decide to train in the R22, then transition to the R44. Conversion is easy, since the two aircraft are very similar and this is therefore an increasingly popular option. Please contact us for more information about our Advanced Helicopter Training Program.
